Case packing is one of the most important process your product will undergo during its trip through the supply chain. Without the proper packaging, your product could be damaged during transport or have a very poor shelf presence due to an unreliable case opening mechanism.
Case packing has always been at the core of Interpak’s solutions. We have worked for period of time as exclusive partners for several case packing companies, and through these periods we learned that one company could in no way deliver the wide range of solutions needed for our customers. So today, Interpak works with several of the leading case packing companies to provide the best solution to the individual customer’s complex packaging situation.
We have been supplying case packing solutions for over 20 years and have handled virtually every product imaginable from pharmaceuticals to technical products to food.
Types of packaging we offer:
Also known as the American case, this pre-glued case is widely used in the US primarily due to its ease of use and ability to be hand loaded. While and RSC can be automatically loaded, typically using a top loader or robotic loader, the RSC case is usually required to be oversized to allow for the loading process. These cases can be closed with hot melt glue or taped shut. RSC cases can also have tear open perforations, but as you will see in the marketplace they are high unreliable, if outstanding shelf presence and shelf ready capabilities are required, look below at the two piece structures.
Wrap Around Case
Wrap around cases start with flat blanks. The product is placed on top of the flat or partially formed case, then tightly wrapped around the product. Producing a snug fit, that reduces the overall case footprint and limits product movement inside the case. Soft and delicate products can also benefit from the wrap around case as the product is not used to for the case. Wrap around cases also provide for stronger stacking strength, as they have multiple layers of glued flaps and the flaps are typically located on the vertical edge. Wrap Around cases can also have tear open perforations, but as you will see in the marketplace they are high unreliable, if outstanding shelf presence and shelf ready capabilities are required, look below at the two piece structures.
Trays are formed out of flat blanks like wrap around cases. Trays can be formed in the same fashion as a wraparound case or they can be formed off-line and top loaded. Trays are effective for products that will remain on pallets, for instance club store products. Or they can also be sent onto a shrink wrapper for additional product protection during shipping.
Shelf Retail Ready Two Piece Case
One of the most innovative case styles is the shelf-retail ready display case. This case is made from multiple separate pieces of packaging material. Typically you have a high quality printedpaperboard/micro-flute/corrugate tray and a generic unprinted lid/cover. This packaging guarantees a high quality shelf presence every time it is placed on the shelf. Unlike, tear strips, perforations, or manually cut cases in which the final look on the shelf relies on the stock person, the shelf/retail ready case will always open consistently and your product is quickly presented as you intended. We can also mix and match materials (i.e. paperboard tray and corrugated hood). In addition, the hood/lid can be inside the tray to reduce packaging consumption or covering the outside of the tray for ultimate shipping protection.
